One Key Larrakia providing employment solutions to NT industry

OneKeyLarrakia 3A new joint venture partnership between Wedgetail Larrakia Corporation and labour hire and workforce specialist One Key Resources is providing much needed innovative labour hire solutions to the Northern Territory’s crucial gas, construction and mining industries. One Key Larrakia has been formed to provide employment services for both Indigenous and non-Indigenous people across the Northern Territory. The majority Indigenous owned One Key Larrakia is providing labour hire, recruitment as well as skills and proficiency training to these industries. Wedgetail Larrakia Corporation undertook an exhaustive process in selecting a suitable partner with the appropriate expertise, before agreeing to terms with One Key Resources. Wedgetail Larrakia Corporation director Mr Nigel Browne said, “The One Key Larrakia partnership will allow us to forge ahead for the benefit of our people. “Given the massive Liquefied Natural Gas and construction opportunities now and over the next decade we believe that by establishing this partnership with One Key Resources we are able to offer the government, major proponents and contractors a service of significant value and capability.” One Key Larrakia has productive workforce partnerships underway with organisations such as national civil and construction contractor BMD Group, Compass Group at the Manigurr-ma Village and Australian Agricultural Company (AACo) at their new Livingstone Beef facility. The company expects to place between 100-200 people in to work by mid-2015 with a focus on a large portion of those being indigenous employees. The types of roles being filled are diverse and range from general labour, skilled machinery and equipment operators, specialist trades roles, engineering through to managerial and field supervisors. One Key Resources managing director Grant Wechsel said he was delighted with the opportunities that lay ahead in the Northern Territory as the company expands its presence around Australia. “Our specialist expertise particularly in major gas, construction and mining projects will provide a ready made pool of highly qualified, productive and safety conscious workers to industry. “Already we’ve seen the successful placing of a number of workers into key employment areas in the Northern Territory with a majority of those being local Larrakia and other indigenous candidates. “By partnering with the local traditional owners of the Darwin area, the Larrakia people, we are confident we can collectively succeed in growing One Key Larrakia into a productive and innovative local labour hire and workforce development business.” Rugby league legend Darren Lockyer is a director of One Key Resources and plays a key role in business development and client and community relations. Lockyer has been involved with indigenous employment initiatives with One Key in Queensland and will be visiting the Northern Territory with One Key Larrakia in the near future.
